standard 7th National Steinway Youth Piano Competition Wraps Up

On December 13, 2015, Finals of the 7th National Steinway Youth Piano Competition andChina Finals of the 79th International Steinway Youth Piano Competition that lasted 3 days ended successfully in Ningbo. Results of the competition were announced at Ningbo Grand Theatre that night. The China Finals were sponsored by Steinway & Sons Asia Pacific. 49 winners were selected from 45 competitors in the professional groups and 100 competitors in the amateur groups. They respectively won the prizes for the professional groups and amateur groups.

At the Prize Presentation Concert that night, Mr. Husmann, President of Steinway & Sons Asia Pacific, gave a speech. He highly appreciated the competitors’ music talents, and expressed his expectations for their future music career. Today, people’s attention to music education and love for piano art is increasing day by day. Steinway & Sons appreciates and respects every child’s music dream. It’s willing to build a stage for young music lovers and music talents to realize their dreams. This also is the true meaning of Steinway & Sons holding piano competitions.

At night, winners of the Special Prizes for the professional groups and amateur groups, winners of the First Prize, Second Prize, Third Prize for Professional Group A, B, C, winners of the First Prize, Second Prize, Third Prize for Amateur Group A, B, C, and winners of Honorable Mention were revealed one by one by Prof. Wu Ying, Chairman of the Competition’s Judging Panel and Dean of the Piano Department of Central Conservatory of Music. Wang Xuerong from Northeast China Competition Zone won the Special Prize for the professional groups. She will attend the International Steinway Festival held in Hamburg, Germany, next year on invitation. Wang Keyi from Shanghai Competition Zone won the Special Prize for the amateur groups, and got an Essex EUP-123E EP Black Polished Upright Piano of Steinway Family Series.

International Steinway Youth Piano Competition started in 1936. Today, it’s one of the most long-standing and largest international youth piano competitions. It has long become a great event in the international music circles. In 2002, International Steinway Youth Piano Competition came to China. From then on, it has been held biennially. Now the competition has won the attention and recognition of countless piano learners and music lovers. The 7th National Steinway Youth Piano Competition started in July 2015. More than 15,000 competitors from 12 Competition Zones entered for the competition. The competition this year has been the largest one with the most competitors. After more than 4 months of fierce competition, 100 competitors in the amateur groups and 45 competitors in the professional groups won out and successfully entered the finals.
